…Charles Bridge is a medieval stone bridge built from 1357 to 1402? That means it was built for 45 years. The construction took place during the reign of king Charles IV. The bridge crosses the river Vltava. It is 516 meters long and almost 10 meters wide. It is decorated by 30 statues. The bridge replaced the Judith Bridge which was destroyed by a flood in 1342. Charles Bridge was the main connection between Prague Castle and the Old Town, so it was very important. (Ellen D.)
